Job Description

PhD Chemical Engineer…Process Technology

Client is one of the largest petrochemical companies in the world, operating 17 R&D laboratories and 62 commercial plants in 40 countries, with annual revenue of 50 billion US dollars. Client operates a Technology & Innovation Center near Houston, Texas, whose mission includes technology assessment, conceptual process design, process development, and plant support. The Process Technology Group is currently seeking experienced chemical process engineers to lead a broad array of projects supporting various business units within Client.

The ideal candidate will be a generalist who can quickly become familiar with various chemical processes or technologies and make significant contributions to advance Client’s business.

Candidates should possess the following experience and skills:
• At least 8+ years of industrial experience in process development, conceptual process design, or process support with a background in refining, chemicals, or polymers
• An advanced degree in chemical engineering is highly desired, PhD is preferred.
• Experience evaluating, optimizing, or conceptualizing process flow sheets for existing or emerging technologies
• Ability to evaluate comparative process economics
• Experience using process simulation tools such as Aspen Plus is desired.  
• Comfortable working both independently and on a team as a leader or contributor
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
The candidate should be comfortable and experienced in collaborating with outside engineering companies and working with colleagues from diverse cultures throughout the world.

The Technology Center is located in the pleasant wooded area of Sugar Land, Texas, about 20 miles southwest of Houston.
