Job Description

Refinery Position Available for Process Engineer

Client is seeking energetic, results focused, and highly competent individuals to join their Refinery Team. Role Outline:
Works directly with other engineers, technicians and operators to ensure understanding of the systems, resolve issues and improve system effectiveness.

Ensure product quality by daily unit monitoring and analysis; operating specifications review and adjustments; minor troubleshooting; daily status reviews with Operations Department including:
Identify unit feed rates and any limitations
Identify product dispositions (inventory and quality)
Check operating conditions of all major unit energy users
Study daily lab results
Compare actual unit operating conditions with expected conditions and identify trouble areas
Check status of environmental abatement equipment
Read unit logs
Develop / maintain effective monitoring reports
Discuss / evaluate trouble areas with Unit Supervisor, Process Lead, and / or Technical Leader. Insure that efforts will be made to correct identified problem areas
Specific unit support items such as troubleshooting operational and process quality problems and major unit upsets, equipment and flow plan documentation, writing new procedures, unit testing requests for information from other departments, and safety reviews.
Special event coverage such as unit startups, shutdowns, catalyst regeneration / loading, and other unusual operations requiring above normal technical coverage.
Determine unit throughput limitations and capabilities and make recommendations for improvement
Evaluate catalyst and chemical performance and cost.
Monitor unit energy consumption and efficiencies.
Identify and recommend process optimization taking into account process unit configuration and / or capacity and perform front-end engineering for process design improvement projects
Perform sizing of process unit equipment including: Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Control Valves, Relief Valves, Orifices, Regulators, Piping.
Perform other tasks as assigned by Process Lead
Initiate and develop required technical information for the Management of Change process. Participate and / or perform Process Hazard Analysis studies and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews for PSM covered processes. Develop and help implement resolutions to action items resulting from PHA’s and PSSR’s.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering
• 5-10 years chemical engineer experience, preferably in a refinery
• Effective written and oral communications and the ability to engage others in solving problems and evaluating solutions.
Organizational skills (Coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks)
