Job Description

Experienced Business Development Consultant (Manufacturing) to work with Chemicals Business organization in Saudi Arabia. As the successful candidate you will handle business proposals valued between $100MM and $500MM or larger projects as assigned. Projects worked on are of varying scope and complexity, ranging from very large such as the Rabigh and Sadara petrochemicals project.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering or its equivalent.
15 years experience in business development.

Solid experience in venturing activities such as commercialization, spin-offs or joint venturing. Extensive experience in Technology Management in a leadership position. Excellent command of oral and written English. Arabic is highly desirable.

Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for handling business proposals valued at between $100MM and $500MM or larger projects as assigned. The projects will vary in scope and complexity and the candidate will work under their own self-direction to achieve the predetermined long-term goals.

This will include, but not be limited to:
• Manage business development process from screening through to deal closure.
• Drive screening and validation activities to progress proposals through stage gates.
• Prioritize business proposals against investment criteria and Chemicals strategy.
• Determine the scope and objectives of the deal, offering commercial and “technical” solutions.
• Work with investors to establish high level strategic, financial and operational milestone for the new venture.
• Review investor proposals.
• Approve contract payments and variations within the authority limit.
• Coordinate with internal subject matter experts groups (Law, finance, Corporate Planning/Management Services) to ensure deal is in progress.
• Determine requirements for reporting venture performance.
• Participate in planning Chemicals performance and business plans.
• Act as a “Deal Closer” and mobilize the investor’s senior management to resolve the few remaining issues before major commitment points are reached.
• Work with internal organizations and external investors to promote new business opportunities.
• Represent the company in professional societies, standard committees and conferences.
• Prepare reviews and present Management Committee briefs.
• Provide administrative direction to Business Development Analysts, Specialists and Managers. Prepare job performance appraisals, review and recommend job promotions.
• See that all proper documentation is maintained on all business venture development work.
• Perform due diligence work in support of M&A.
