Job Description

The Process Safety Engineer provides technical support and leadership to Client Pipeline’s process safety and risk management programs.  Position is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA’s Process Safety Management and Co. Operational Excellence Process Safety standards.  Serves as primary engineering resource to the Pipeline’s Integrity Management Department; assesses technical data to recommend and implement preventative & mitigative measures necessary to maintain mechanical integrity of 1,400+ miles of regulated pipelines.

This individual is the primary engineering resource for thepipeline’s integrity management program.  Need chemical manufacturing experience, working knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management standards, PHA facility/building siting. 

Responsibilities
1. Develop & maintain processes to continually evaluate and manage process risk for two underground hydrocarbon storage facilities and 1,400+ miles of pipelines in TX and LA
2. Ensure consistent implementation and continuous improvement of Equistar Pipeline’s Process Safety programs including PHA, MOC/PCA, PSSR, PSI, Facility/Building Siting
3. Review corrosion and Integrity Management Program data to assess integrity of 100+ pipeline segments; recommend incremental measures necessary to provide proper protection of the public around Client Pipeline assets
4. Support site-level Operational Excellence programs and initiatives; develop plans to address OE Advisories & Directives; manage self-assessment & internal audit processes; SME for external Audits
5. Oversee technical aspects of API/RBI program
 
The Ideal Candidate Should Have:
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical or Mechanical
• Minimum of 4 years technical experience in the petrochemical and/or pipeline industries; and minimum of 2 years Process Safety experience  
• Working knowledge of PSM regulations; experience developing and managing process safety programs preferred
• Demonstrated self-motivation with proven ability to achieve results
• Highly developed problem solving skills and decision making ability
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
