Refinery Position Available for Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Leader

Client is seeking energetic, results focused, and highly competent individuals to join the Refinery Team. The following position is currently available:

Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Leader

Position Summary:
Provides strategic direction and leadership for the Health, Safety and Environmental Teams/Initiatives for Client and its subsidiaries. A summary of primary responsibilities include:
1. Strategic leadership of various Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental initiatives such that Monroe maintains and builds upon its reputation as a proactive best-in-class corporate citizens.
2. Assures that Client and its subsidiaries continuously improves our performance in Health, Safety and Environmental innovation while maintaining compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Environmental and Safety regulations.
3. Provides leadership to various internal organizational teams/committees that help to develop the HSE mission, guidelines, and respective goals/objectives.
4. Serves as an agent of the company and representative/liaison to a variety of external entities including Federal, State, and Local agencies, customers, suppliers, industry related groups and community entities.
Primary Responsbility:
1. Provides direct leadership and supervision to the Environmental Leader, Pipeline Environmental Leader, the Security Leader and Safety Leader.
2. Develop the overall strategy of continuous improvement for the Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental initiatives.
3. Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership, and support for all facilities, departments, (including acquisitions) on regulatory compliance issues in Safety and Environmental Health.
4. Understand the chemicals and any/all potential safety and environmental hazards used/present at all sites, take steps to reduce the use of problematic chemicals and to mitigate any potential safety and environmental hazards.
5. Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the Health and Safety team, Environmental Team, Emergency Responders, and PSM including people, data, and budgetary responsibilities; creating one team with a common mission.
6. Represent the company on various boards, government committees and trade organizations as appropriate to supper the Health, Safety and Environmental strategies.
7. Create and maintain program management systems to ensure that various Safety and/or Environmental certifications, accreditations, and compliance efforts are developed and continuously improved.
8. Lead various communication initiatives to ensure the development of strategic HSE communiqués for use with internal and external strategies.
9. Create synergy and leverage the knowledge, people, and resources of HSE as a team.
10. Perform additional responsibilities as required.

1. Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Safety & Health, EH&S Management, or a related field is required.
2. Minimum of 10-15 years of leadership/managerial experience within the Health, Safety and Environmental field.
3. Must have proven leadership and teamwork skills; being able to work collaboratively with various leaders, departments and teams.
4. Highly effective written and verbal communication skills that can be used with people of various backgrounds, experiences, and education levels.
5. Highly developed interpersonal communication skills and cultural sensitivity. Demonstrated highly effective platform presentation skills and training delivery skills.
6. Ability and willing to be trained as a first responder and assume role of incident commander as needed.
