Job Description

The Maintenance & Reliability Engineer primarily responsible for rotating equipment, with some fixed equipment. Mechanical maintenance and reliability engineering technical support for four Polymer production lines. The candidate will support production unit maintenance/reliability efforts and drive improvements in maintenance work processes, procedures, performance, and cost.

• Troubleshoot issues with mechanical equipment (reciprocating compressors, pumps, gearboxes, blowers, polymer compounding equipment)
• Assess performance / condition of machinery, bearings, seals, polymer equipment
• Conduct investigations t• determine root cause of equipment failures, complete and close findings as required
• Active member of site area optimization teams which identify, prioritize, and resolve leveraging maintenance / reliability / production issues
• Provide technical support t• both operations and maintenance
• Provide technical/engineering specifications for design of new and inspection/repair of exiting pieces of mechanical equipment
• Provide support t• establish adequate spare parts and recurring preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
• Provide planning support for major machinery overhauls, specifying scope of required work and technical details t• ensure successful execution
• Provide technical support for plant expense and capital projects
• Mentor engineers, specialists, and technicians and provide training in the area of mechanical equipment operation and repair
• Support and participate in the site's safety programs

B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of work experience in the refining/petrochemical industry (polymer industry experience preferred but not required).
Must demonstrate a working knowledge of all applicable engineering codes/standards and their application.
A thorough knowledge of operating processes, equipment, and materials, as well as critical analytical skills are needed t• effectively evaluate equipment performance and problems.
General knowledge of project management, reliability engineering and root cause analysis. While experience with both fixed and rotating equipment is preferred, job position is slanted towards rotating.
Knowledge of machinery vibration analysis and lube oil analysis preferred

This company is one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies. The company manufactures products at 58 sites in 18 countries. The Complex produces high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic resins. Plant has nearly 300 employees and contractors. The plant is located just south of Bay City, TX. The facility encompasses about 2,500 acres.

Must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card). No visa sponsorships or transfers will be accepted.
