Job Description

The Area Reliability Engineer will provide rotating machinery engineering support for Operations and Maintenance in a given area. This position is discipline specific and will be focused on tactical as well as strategic issues.  Engagement across several departments and with all levels of site leadership is expected.  The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Identifying and solving area specific reliability issues using data driven methodologies.
• Supporting the Asset Team Reliability Engineer by providing asset team/discipline specific mentoring.
• Participating in or leading an Asset Team Reliability Improvement Team.
• Monitoring monthly production losses and maintenance costs to identify top discipline specific problems.  Solving high priority reliability issues by focusing on discipline specific reliability improvements.
• Maintaining an opportunity list for area and periodically calibrating with Asset Team leadership. 
• Leading RCFA, FMEA, or Engineering studies to develop solutions to major issues.  Completing six non-facilitated RCFA's per year.
• Gathering information from all elements of the work force as well as championing the implementation of solutions with management by using strong communication skills. 
• Identifying Cost Improvement and Energy Saving Projects. 
• Supporting Staff Engineer in developing data for site Reliability Reports. 
• Providing technical support for PHA's.
• May be tasked to lead a site wide reliability improvement program focused on an asset class.
• Providing justification and facilitating the purchase of major spare parts.
• Leading the Management of Change process for mechanically centered changes and providing technical review.
• Supporting turnaround activity as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 10+ years related experience in a refining or petrochemical plant environment
• Knowledge of engineering codes/standards and best practices related to rotating machinery
• Experience working with operating processes, equipment and materials of construction
• Vibration analysis certification is a plus
• Ability to effectively evaluate equipment performance and identify problems
• Experience with small projects and failure analysis methods
• Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are also highly desired
